Meeting with Notts County Council

A cordial meeting that lasted about an hour.

Four of our team were present along with Cllr Sue Saddington via zoom. Two present on the council’s side plus head of property and finance via zoom.

They stated that the site had been independently valued as is at £500,000 and were planning to apply for planning permission to build some 2 & 3 bedroom houses.

This may leave some space for the community at the rear, backing onto the A617. This would be depending on the architects designs etc.

Moving forward Notts CC will instruct architects early in January and expect initial designs by the end of February.

From this we will know a little better what, if anything, is available and at what price.

We have a provisional meeting planned for March when we will know more.

Overall the team felt the meeting was positive although there is no current positive development.

Onwards into 2025 and looking forward to the meeting in March.

The board will continue to meet to work on the assumption that we will need to raise funds, and the various sources that it will come from.

The main one will be a “Community Share Issue” with buy in starting at £25 with a maximum of £100,000! So at the low end something everyone can invest in and let us know your list of those that can invest the maximum 🤔😃.

There will be a post shortly on the Community Share Mark offer details for investors.

The greater the involvement of our community, the greater the opportunity to attract grants from wider afield, so although the money raised from the community is important, getting a high percentage of the community supporting this project is more important.

We are hopeful of a positive 2025 after 18 months of chipping away at acquiring a site for our three villages.

We have opened a bank account in readiness to receive grants and donations etc as we shall be needing funds to get things moving:

  1. Preparation of Community Share Offer

  2. Validation and independent examination of our business plan

  3. Selecting legal representation

  4. Selecting a professional site valuation

  5. Opening planning discussions with Newark & Sherwood District Council

  6. Etc etc

We have calculated that to get the ball rolling we will need £5,000 approximately. Therefore if you would like to get involved and donate some seed money please contact us at . askhive@icloud.com

Have an adventurous 2025
